Created during the late-Victorian fascination with Renaissance art (c. 1870–1890), this barrel-back armchair once anchored a Gilded-Age parlor where furniture spoke louder than social status. Portrait medallions, acanthus scrolls, and pierced carvings were more than decoration—they were a résumé of culture and taste.
