A richly detailed Victorian adjustable fire screen, featuring an exquisite hand-stitched needlepoint panel depicting a brilliantly colored parrot surrounded by blooming florals and acanthus leaves. The textile is mounted on an adjustable mahogany pole with a turned baluster column and supported by an ornate tripod base with cast-brass claw-and-ball feet.

Originally used to shield the face from direct heat while sitting by the fire, these screens also served as showcases of fine domestic embroidery and artistry.
This example combines English craftsmanship with romantic naturalist imagery, making it both functional and decorative — a striking accent in any sitting room, library, or bedroom.
