Large mid-19th-century Berlin woolwork depicting Noah’s thanksgiving sacrifice after the Flood—the ark and animals, rainbow of covenant, and Noah’s family in prayer. Executed in tent stitch on canvas and presented as a parlor showpiece of its day: a reverse-painted black glass (églomisé) mat hand-lettered “SARAH A. CONKLIN. 1852.”, set within an ornate Rococo Revival gesso frame. A named and dated American example from the high period of Berlin work (c.1830s–1860s).

Condition: textile clean and taut; églomisé mat intact; frame with scattered age cracks/losses and an old toned finish; back with original wide boards and later hanging wire—stable and ready to hang.

Perfect for collectors of American needlework, biblical subjects, or Victorian presentation pieces.
